Configure Citrix XenApp 6.0 and Citrix XenApp 6.5

on Windows Server 2008 R2


There are 2 requirements to query Citrix farm information on Windows Server 2008 R2:

1. PowerShell installed (installed by default)

2. Configure Server Manangement Remote Management.

To Configure Server Manangement Remote Management, on the Citrix server (Data Collector preferred),
open a Windows PowerShell session with elevated user rights.

To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click Windows PowerShell,
right-click the Windows PowerShell shortcut, and then click Run as administrator.

In the Windows PowerShell session, type the following, and then press Enter.

Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned

Type the following, and then press Enter to enable all required firewall rule exceptions.

Configure-SMRemoting.ps1 -force -enable


Configure Citrix XenApp 5.0 on Windows Server 2008 SP2


There are 4 requirements to query Citrix farm information on Windows Server 2008 SP2:

1. Download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or later (required by WMF 3.0)

2. Download and Install WMF 3.0 (Windows Management Framework)

Select the following file based your operating system:
Windows6.0-KB2506146-x64.msu (Windows Server 2008 SP2 x64)
Windows6.0-KB2506146-x86.msu (Windows Server 2008 SP2 x86)

Also you can use PowerShell 2.0 or Windows Management Framework v2.0

3. Allow remote server management through WinRM.

Run the following command to enable remote access.
winrm quickconfig

4. Install Citrix XenApp Commands

Configure Citrix XenApp 4.5 on Windows Server 2003


There are 4 requirements to query Citrix farm information on Windows Server 2003:

1. Download and install Microsoft .NET Framework versions 2.0, 3.0, or 3.5 (required by WMF 2.0)

2. Download and install WMF 2.0 (Windows Management Framework)

Select the right file based your operating system.

3. Allow remote server management through WinRM.

Run the following command to enable remote access.
winrm quickconfig
